PADI Junior Open Water

If you want to learn to scuba dive, take a PADI Junior Open Water Diver course, the most widely recognized and respected diving certification in the world.

Within a few days, you can be enjoying the underwater world.

As a certified PADI Junior Open Water Diver, you'll have the freedom to dive with a buddy in this country or abroad.

If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program.

Pre-requisite qualifying courses

  • A PADI Junior Open Water Diver between the ages of 10 and 11 years may only dive with a PADI Professional, a certified parent or certified guardian to a maximum depth of 12 metres/40 feet.

What the course covers

  • The Junior Open Water course structure is essentially the same as for the adult course
  • You’ll learn the fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques.
  • You'll earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water dives.
  • The course is split into two parts. The first 3 days of pool and theory take place at Andark, (or Home Study - see calendar details below), and the final two days for the 4 qualifying dives are at a suitable (and safe) open water training site. (See calendar details below for the various ways that you can complete these two parts)

What it will cost and what you'll need

  • Course Fee: £209.00, or under 12's £239.00 
  • Manual: £24.95
  • Log book: from £5.95
  • Site entrance fee: There is an entrance fee for open water dives requiring entry to an inland site, payable daily by the student. Current fees: Horsea Island: £10.00, Stoney Cove £15.00.
  • Mask, Snorkel, Boots and Fins (Gloves are also recommended for the winter months). Student discounts available on all these items in the Andark shop.
  • Medical Declaration (details on Course Booking and Payment page)
  • Children under 12 MUST attend a video evening with a parent or guardian before attending a PADI course - £15.00
  • We also recommend a pool skills orientation session £30.00
  • If the dates below are not suitable for you, Juniors can book onto any standard course at the standard price.

All courses run from 9am to 5:30pm (approximately) and a minimum of 3 people is required for a course to run, unless otherwise stated.

How to Book

Booking a course with Andark couldn't be more straight forward, there are three simple steps to follow:

  1. Phone us to check the availibility of the course that you have chosen, and the dates you wish to attend.
  2. Download and complete the booking form, and return to us by post.
  3. Download and complete the medical declaration form, and return to us by post.
