PADI Rescue Diver
& EFR - combined course

Rewarding and fun – that best describes the PADI Rescue Diver course.

This is a 4 day course will expand your knowledge and experience level: Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence.

Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies.

The Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care comes free with the Rescue Diver course and covers basic first aid and CPR resuscitation.

Prerequisite qualifying courses

Minimum age

  • 15 years (see Junior courses - 12 years for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)

What the course covers

The course is a mixture of theory, practical pool and open water sessions covering the following :

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Emergency oxygen delivery systems
  • Dive first aid
  • Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • Underwater problems
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • Egress (exits)
  • First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
  • Dive accident scenarios

The EFR Primary Care course covers the basics of First Aid plus CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), and meets the requirements for HSE Appointed Persons at Work.

The EFR Secondary Care course moves on from First Aid and resuscitation and looks at injury and illness assessment, bandaging, and dealing with dislocations and fractures. This course certification is required for PADI Rescue Diverand PADI Pros and must be updated every 2 years – see Emergency First Response.

What it will cost and what you'll need

  • Course Fee: £249.00
  • Rescue Diver manual: £24.95
  • EFR manual (covering Primary and Secondary): £9.00
  • Site entrance fee: There is an entrance fee for open water dives requiring entry to an inland site, payable daily by the student. Current fees: Horsea Island: £10.00,
  • Mask, Snorkel, Boots and Fins (Gloves are also recommended for the winter months). Student discounts available on all these items in the Andark shop.
  • Medical Declaration (details on Course Booking and Payment page)
  • Proof of qualification and experience, (log book and cards), must be provided on day one of the course.

Notes

All courses run from 9am to 5:30pm (approximately) and a minimum of 3 people is required for a course to run, unless otherwise stated.

  3. Download and complete the medical declaration form, and return to us by post.
