PADI Boat Handler

A two-day course suitable for students with no previous experience of boathandling.

Prerequisite qualifying courses

• None.

Minimum age

• 12 years (under 16s will be issued with an endorsed card).

What the course covers

• Basic seamanship skills including launch and recovery.
• Safety aspects.
• Preparation of the boat.
• Handling the boat under power
• Leaving and coming alongside and being towed.
• Man-overboard, anchoring, high speed manoeuvres and GPS use
• Coastal navigation, tides and weather.
• You will also receive the RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate and ICC application.

• Course fee: £250.00.
• Manual and log book including in certification.

All courses run from 9am to 5.30pm (approximately).

Courses require a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 people per instructor, and can either take place on the dates in the course calendar, or at other times by arrangement, subject to availability of instructor and boat. Personal tuition is available at a cost equivalent to 2 people.

Boat handling courses take place on the Hamble River, Southampton Water, and in the Solent area, weather permitting.
