RYA Powerboat Level 1

An enjoyable introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling.

Prerequisite qualifying courses

• None

Minimum age

• 12 years (Under 16s will be issued with an endorsed certificate).

What the course covers

The one day course covers launching and preparing the boat, basic boat handling, including handling the boat under power, leaving and coming alonside and being towed, and the use of safety equipment. After completing the course, you will be able to drive under supervision.

• Course fee : £99.00
• Price includes buoyancy aids, basic wet weather protection if required, log book and fuel.

• Can be run on the first day of the RYA Powerboat Level 2 Course subject to Instructor availability

Notes

All courses run from 9am to 5:30pm (approximately)

Courses require a minimum of 2 and maximum of 3 people per instructor/boat, and can either take place on the dates in the course calendar, or at other times by arrangement, subject to availability of instructor and boat. Personal tuition is available at a cost equivalent to 2 people.

Boat handling courses take place on the Hamble River, Southampton Water, and in the Solent area, weather permitting.
