Mid layer should be part of a Sailors 3-layer system, being the layer that holds dry warm air close to the body, the other layers are:-
Base layer - to transport body moisture away from skin i.e Musto - Thermal Turtle Neck & Trousers, or Henri-Lloyd Core Range.
Outer Layer - should keep out water i.e. Musto MPX Offshore Goretex Jacket & Trs or Gill Keywest Range
